Our Volunteers

Our Volunteers are true train lovers! The men and women of the KCNRR happily volunteer their time because they enjoy what they do. We have people from all backgrounds that have been brought together through a passion for trains and how they are built, run and how they bring joy to so many of ALL ages! We are always looking for new volunteers that enjoy working outside with kids and adults alike. Our volunteers always bring our visitors smiles and adventure while helping them make memories that will last a lifetime! Who doesn't love a train ride!

Volunteer Spotlight

Join Lou to learn about the different types of signals that protect both individuals and trains, and explore the history and restoration of unique signals like crossing gates, wigwag signals, and semaphore signals. Plus, watch Lowell in action as he tests a signal bell.

Halloween Train

Calling all little ghosts, goblins, witches, and wizards! Gather the whole family for a spooktacular Halloween Train!


October 31st

Train runs 10 AM to 6 PM


Costume Contest promptly at 1 PM
Show off your best look! Category winners receive a 10-ride train pass.


​Trunk or Treat Fundraiser 10 AM to 2 PM
Hosted by Clay Platte Montessori & Farm School KC's PTO 

$5/child. Proceeds benefit the school.


​Wood Carving Demonstration 10 AM to 2 PM
Catch master sculptor Steven Higgins in action.
